North Plainfield Farmers' Market Opens for the Season |
The North Plainfield Farmers Market opens Saturday, July 9th, 2011 from 9am-2pm through October 22nd. This year’s vendors include Von Thune Farms from Monmouth Junction; Runnin Free Organic Farm from Hillsborough; New Jerseys Farmer of the Year Rich Norz from Norz Hill Farm in Hillsborough; Sweet, Spice and Honey Artisanal Breads from Highland Park; and, Jams by Kim Artisanal Jams from Hillsborough. Parking spaces will be reserved at the market for seniors with ID and handicapped. We're asking all others to use Parking lot A on Craig Place , which is less than 2/10ths of a mile from the market or about a 4 minute walk at a slow pace. Local residents are encouraged to walk to the market. Farmers Market Vouchers worth $20/person are available for low-income seniors, the vouchers will be available at the market, at the Runnin Free Organic Farm Stand or by calling Paul Alirangues at 908-723-1480. They will also be available through the Seniors Club and Local Churches , dates to be determined. New Jersey does not produce enough food to feed itself, if North Plainfield wants to keep these invaluable resources in town, we need to support these vendors every week, or next year we may find ourselves wanting. Eat local, think local, shop local, help keep North Plainfield vibrant and prosperous.
