The public is invited to comment on the Somerset County All-Hazards Mitigation Plan’s Annual Progress Report. The document and a Public Outreach link for comments may be found on the county website at www.co.somerset.nj.us/hazard The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders developed the All-Hazards Mitigation Plan several years ago in accordance with state and federal standards. The plan allows the county and its participating municipalities to be eligible for mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The plan addresses a variety of potential natural hazards that could affect county residents, such as flooding and snowstorms. “The purpose of the Annual Progress Report is to provide the county, municipal partners, stakeholders and residents with an annual update on the implementation of the action plans identified in the document,” said Freeholder Patrick Scaglione, public works liaison. “We want to ensure that there is a continuous planning process that will keep the plan dynamic and responsive to the needs of the planning partners. We also will rely heavily on public comments that we receive.” For further information, visit the plan website at www.co.somerset.nj.us/hazard or contact Carl Andreassen in the Somerset County Engineering Division at 908-231-7024 or Andreassen@co.somerset.nj.us
