Most Somerset County government offices and programs will reopen Monday, Nov. 5, following a week of disruptions due to Hurricane Sandy.
“County managers and staff have been working around the clock this past week to mitigate the effects of the storm here in Somerset County,” said Freeholder Mark Caliguire, public health and safety liaison. “As we enter what is sure to be a long recovery phase, our offices and most programs will reopen for business as usual on Monday. We thank our residents for their patience and resilience during this disaster.”
Recycling pickups will be made as scheduled Monday in Bernards. Recycling will be collected Tuesday in Bedminster, Bernardsville, Peapack-Gladstone and Far Hills.
Due to power outages, all senior centers except Montgomery will be remain closed on Monday. No meals will be served at the Montgomery site and there will be no transportation provided to the center.
Meals on Wheels delivery will be made on Monday. Meals will be delivered for Monday and for Tuesday.

County offices except Recycling, Election Board and County Clerk will be closed Tuesday for the Election Day holiday, but will reopen Wednesday.
Due to the severity of the storm, Somerset County still is experiencing difficulty with Internet service, which is affecting its website. However, most email and phone service has been restored to county offices.
"With the overall impact the storm has had on technology in the area, I want to thank our residents for their efforts in sharing information with friends and neighbors,” Freeholder Caliguire said. “Please continue to reach out to others because it cannot be assumed that they are aware of recovery efforts that are taking place and services that are available to them."
