The Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services has announced its December senior center schedule. All programs in the schedule begin at 11 a.m. unless otherwise noted. Please call for lunch reservations by 10 a.m. at least one business day before you wish to come. For more information about activities, contact the appropriate center.

We’ll help you adapt your favorite dishes to be more nutritious and we’ll be cooking a few of our own for you as well. This is especially useful information to keep in mind during the busy upcoming holiday season.) December 14 – “The Life & Work of Vincent Van Gogh” – Lecture & Paint Markets Workshop, Art of the Master’s Program by Creative Notions, 10:30 am (Reservations required.) Kristen can be seen singing and dancing in Woody Allen’s movie “Everyone Says I Love You” with Drew Barrymore & Goldie Hawn. Ashley is one of the Broadway Kids, and her theatre credits include the Sound of Music National Tour with Marie Osmond, Annie National Tour and Annie Warbucks on Broadway. Don’t miss this one!) December 6 – Warrenbrook’s Annual Holiday Party, 10:30-2:00 pm (The Pettets (Ashley & Kristen) will present an original variety show which will include many forms of entertainment in a musical revue (such as singing, dancing & acting). They will also present special Christmas Party entertainment. Enjoy a special lunch and then dance the afternoon away with DJ and entertainer Jerry Costaldo. If you are taking Somerset County Transportation, lunch reservations must be made by Wednesday, November 28th. Transportation reservations are extremely limited and will be handled only through the center. The transportation van will depart the center at 1:00 pm for the return trip home.) December 7 – “African Queen Movie Discussion and Trivia” by Jennifer Konopacki and Catherine DeBerry, Somerset County Library System, Warren Branch, 10:15-1:00 pm (This 1951 adventure film takes place in Africa during World War I, when a gin-swilling riverboat owner/captain is persuaded by a strait-laced missionary to use his boat to attack an enemy warship. This film was directed by John Huston and stars Humphrey Bogart & Katherine Hepburn. After viewing the movie, we will discuss the movie and share some movie trivia. (The transportation van will depart the center at 1:00 pm for the return trip home.) December 10 – North Pole: Santa’s Workshop, 10:30 am (Mrs. Santa Claus will share some of the world’s Christmas customs and traditions that her husband encounters as he delivers toys. You will have the opportunity to help the Head Toymaker test some toys that Santa is planning on delivering this Christmas.) December 11 – “Let’s Eat Healthier Snacks During the Holidays” by Nancy Rosa-Mejias, Program Coordinator, Family and Community Health Sciences, Rutgers Cooperative Extension (Food brings families and friends together. As we celebrate the holidays, many of us eat too much and make less than healthy choices. This program will help us aim for a healthier food balance and will encourage moderation when snacking.) This DVD was recorded live at the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri.)
