Manville To Hold A Family Health and Safety Day |
Open To Non-Manville Residents The Somerset County Health Department and the Borough of Manville Board of Health will host the first Family Health and Safety Day in Manville at the Manville Public Library. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The library is located on 100 S. 10th Ave., Manville, N.J. 08835 “This is a great opportunity to bring families together to learn what they can do to take charge of their health and safety,” said Freeholder Mark Caliguire, public health and safety department liaison. “Literature will be available, as well as flu shots and blood screenings to eligible participants.” A variety of display tables will have information about services available to Somerset County residents. Participants will include the Somerset County Health Department and Office on Aging and Disability Services. Also community-partner agencies will be there, including the Community Visiting Nurse Association, Somerset Medical Center, American Diabetes Association, Franklin Family Eye Care, Hiller Chiropractic Center and the New York Sports Clubs. Flu shots will be provided to adults from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost will be $5 for Manville residents, $10 for non-Manville residents and FREE for all Medicare Part B recipients. Eligible participants, age 65 and over, should bring their Medicare card with them to receive the flu shot free of charge. To make the flu-shot process move quickly, participants are asked to wear short-sleeved garments. Also, a comprehensive blood screening, for which 12- hour fasting is required, will be offered. This complete blood count test (CBC) includes liver, kidney and lipid profiles. The cost will be $20 for Manville residents and $30 for non-Manville residents. Payment for the flu shot will be cash only and cash and/ or check for the CBC. Pre-registration is required for the comprehensive wellness blood screening.
