Youth Leadership Somerset Seeks Applicants for 2012-13 Program |
Applications Due May 15 for Youth Leadership Somerset Class of 2012-13 Applications are being accepted for Youth Leadership Somerset, a program for young leaders who live in Somerset County and who are interested in developing their potential. The program prepares young people to take active leadership roles in their community. The deadline is May 15. A diverse group of students, grades eight through 12, are being sought to participate in the nine-month program. Class members will meet community leaders from all aspects of county life, who will speak on a wide variety of topics. Palmer, liaison to the youth leadership program. “We encourage participants to hone their leadership skills by developing and implementing projects that give back to their community.” Candidates will be notified in June. Those accepted to the program will receive a full scholarship to ensure that financial status is not a barrier. Developed by the Leadership Somerset Class of 2000, Youth Leadership Somerset program partners include the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Somerset County Business Partnership, Raritan Valley Community College , United Way of Northern New Jersey, Middle Earth, the Somerset County Cultural Diversity Coalition, Business and Education Alliance and Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools .
