Deadline Extended for Centenarian Nomination

Somerset County Seeks to Identify Centenarians

Respond by March 22

In preparation for Older Americans Month, the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders is looking to identify residents who are, or will be, centenarians this year. The deadline is Friday, March 22

“We are asking people to help us by submitting the names of Somerset County centenarians to the Office on Aging and Disability Services,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Patrick Scaglione, county Human Services liaison.  “It is our privilege to honor these residents who have experienced so much and who have contributed greatly to their communities.”

Family members or caregivers are asked to complete a nomination form, which can be obtained from the county Office on Aging and Disability Services or from the county website at http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/spotlight.html

Completed forms may be faxed to (908) 595-0194 or mailed to the attention of Kelly Finnegan, Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville, NJ 08876.

A special celebration to honor the centenarians will be held Wednesday, May 8, at the Senior Wellness Center in Basking Ridge.

The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders participates each year in the nationwide celebration of Older Americans Month.  Established in 1963, Older Americans Month recognizes the contributions of individuals age 60 and above who enrich and strengthen our nation’s communities.
