Whitehouse Wind Symphony to Perform June 2 at Free Concert Celebrating Somerset County’s 325th Anniversary |
SOMERVILLE – The Whitehouse Wind Symphony, under the direction of James P. Sheeley Jr., will perform on the lawn of the Somerset County Historic Courthouse on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m. in celebration of the County’s 325th anniversary. “The Whitehouse Wind Symphony has played in numerous Somerset County venues and includes many local musicians,” said Freeholder Director Peter S. Palmer. “We’re looking forward to this signature event in the celebration of Somerset County’s 325th anniversary.” Admission is free. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Free parking will be available in the Bernie Field Parking Deck behind the county administration building; the entrance is one-half block east of the courthouse, off East High Street. The county Park Commission Showmobile will be set up on the courthouse green to serve as the concert stage. Concert-goers are advised that alcohol is prohibited on county property. The Historic Courthouse Green is located at the corner of Grove and East Main streets. The mapping address is 35 E. Main Street, Somerville, NJ 08876. There is no rain date for the concert. The band’s 2013 concert series theme is “Something for Everyone.” Performances will be comprised of selections designed to appeal to the musical tastes of all audiences. The Whitehouse Wind Symphony is dedicated to presenting the best of the Wind Band literature. The WWS prides itself on performing much of the classic band literature but also exploring pieces from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
