SOMERVILLE - The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholds presented a ceremonial resolution to Hillsborough resident Joetta Clark Diggs for her Jan. 14, 2014 induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2013 at today’s (Jan. 28) freeholders’ meeting.

Ms. Clark Diggs has an impressive resume of track and field, professional and community honors and involvement.  Some achievements include her induction into the USA Track & Field Hall of Fame; being a four-time U.S. Olympian; receipt of The Star-Ledger’s Female Athlete of the Century, the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women Distinguished Honoree and the New Jersey Pioneer of the 90s awards; membership in the Circle of Red Society (American Heart Association awareness campaign); position as  a Raritan Valley Community College and Somerset County Business Partnership board member and spokesperson for the Mayors Wellness Campaign and  EmPoWER Somerset.

“Ms. Clark Diggs is a remarkable athlete and civic-minded woman who has given much of herself to the residents of Somerset County,” said Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione. 

“As recent as December 2013, Ms. Clark Diggs was on hand to present awards to students at Van Derveer Elementary School in Somerville, who participated in a free Fitness Challenge through the Joetta Clark Diggs Sports Foundation (JCDSF),” he said. 

Ms. Clark Diggs is committed to teaching good health and positive work ethics associated with participation in sports through the JCDSF, which she founded to promote involvement in physical activities for children in grades K-12. 

“Ms. Clark Diggs has shared her expertise in fitness, health and empowerment, which have been an inspiration to adults and children alike,” said Freeholder Scaglione.
