Manage Diabetes and Take Control of Your Health |
Free Workshop Starts March 4
BERNARDS - The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services is sponsoring a free six-week Take Control of Your Health (TCYH) interactive workshop for people with type 2 diabetes and their caregivers located at the Senior Wellness Center , located at 202 Mount Airy Rd.
The Diabetes Self-Management program will run from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Mar. 4, 11, 18, 25, Apr. 1 and 8. Advanced registration is required by Thursday, Feb. 26.
Participants will learn techniques for dealing with symptoms of diabetes, including pain, fatigue, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress and depression. The program also will provide information about improving strength and endurance, working effectively with health care providers, appropriate use of medication and healthy eating habits. Each participant will receive a book, titled “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions.”
The Diabetes Self-Management program is in compliance with standards set by the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Take Control of Your Health is an evidence-based program created by Stanford University .
