Chief William Parenti

Chief William G. Parenti announced the sting was unfortunately an overwhelming success.  Operation “Distracted Step” began at 10:07 and 7 motorists were stopped by 10:15am.  We did not have enough police catch cars for the number of violators observed.  Police stopped 31 cars in the two hour sting.  Chief Parenti would like to thank Sheriff Frank Provenzano for sending several sheriff’s officers to assist with the operation.  The problem is worse than we thought.  We are seeing more crashes with injuries or people killed and the topic has fallen form the media attention required to educate the motoring public stated Chief Parenti.
